I can't believe I have gone a month without updating! It might have to do with the fact that we've been remodeling the upstairs bathroom for the last month, but that is no excuse!
Jenny continues to be a total LOVE and I feel so incredibly thankful to have adopted such an amazing dog!
She continues to get along with Béla, but still no snuggling. Béla is starting to feel more comfortable about laying on the couch while Jenny is on there - I even experienced a few times when Bela and Jenny were both laying on me while I was on the couch. (Usually it's Béla sprawled out on my legs and Jenny curled up near my neck or chest.)
The greatest news of the past month is that the two of them are no longer separated during the day while we are at work! We decided to give it a try and it is working out wonderfully! When I come home now, they BOTH greet me at the door, which is absolutely adorable. I am glad that Béla can have the run of the house again. I think that Jenny just sleeps on top of the couch during the day and Béla sleeps in her bed downstairs or up in her room. I'm pretty sure there's a lot of sleeping that goes on while we are at work so I don't worry one bit!
Speaking of cats and dogs, Béla gets a pill each night at about 7pm. My routine is to shake the pill bottle and Béla comes running from wherever she is in the house, knowing that she will get a treat after her pill. Well, Jenny has decided that this is also going to be her treat time, so she has started to come running over as well. I have been training her to sit and wait while Béla gets her pill. It is so adorable to watch Jenny wait for her sister to take her medicine!
Jenny has been more vocal lately, especially when someone is at the
door, when she hears people or dogs outside, or when she hears a
doorbell on tv! Luckily she quiets down rather quickly, especially with
redirection. I've been working on calling her over when she starts
barking and it helps a lot.

She is a funny peeer - she squats and lifts one leg up!

I've been trying to get this pic forever! Love when she has both ears up!

"I love the new tub, but there's no way I'm going in there!"
I came across your blog through the thread about vegan dogs on dogforum.com. I don't have, nor do I care to create one after seeing the members' debate techniques, a profile on that site. That's why I'm contacting your through your blog. I hope you don't mind.
A while back I posted a question on dogfoodchat.com regarding feeding V-dog (http://dogfoodchat.com/forum/dry-canned-dog-food/25074-vegan-vegetarian-dog-food-v-dog-kibble.html). No useful response, as you can see if you clicked the link. However, I noticed that you mentioned V-dog in the thread on dogforum.com and would love to hear about your experience with that kibble in particular. Hope you don't mind sharing. I am looking to switch my dog to vegan after he finishes his current bag of non-vegan food.
Hello M! I don't blame you for not posting there, that's why I left. It is sad how mean some people could be when they are uneducated about something that they do not particularly believe in. As far as V-dog goes, Jenny loved it from the start. I have had no issues at all with her eating it, her stools have been absolutely fine, and she is a healthy pup! I started out by gradually adding it to her old food until she was at 100% V-dog..that process took about a week and a half. I mix things up when it comes to her food - sometimes it's V-dog alone with some warm water to soften it up, sometimes I throw in some peanut butter or coconut oil for flavor, sometimes I mix it with a spoonful or so of canned or sometimes I mix it with a spoonful of homemade food. She seems to like it best when it is mixed with something, but she will still eat it plain (I gauge that by how fast she gobbles it up when its mixed!) They have free shipping when it comes to the food, which usually arrives a few days after ordering. If you have any other specific questions, please feel free to contact me again! We are in Los Angeles, too...Redondo Beach in particular :) Have a great day and enjoy the V-dog!!!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, and quickly too! Also, thank you for sharing your experience and for suggesting some toppings for the kibble.
It's great to hear from someone who has a personal experience with V-dog. I am so excited to try it out! After doing some research I am planning on adding all natural/no sugar peanut butter and hemp hearts/hulled hemp seeds daily for some added fat and protein, and maybe some canned once in a while as an extra treat or as Kong filling.
You guys are lucky to live so close to the beach! I enjoyed seeing the pictures of Jenny on the beach. What a cutie!
ooh...thanks for saying "all natural/ no sugar" peanut butter - that made me go check mine. I use the Trader Joe's Creamy but I see that it is salted. Perhaps I should change to the unsalted one for her? THIS is why I love talking to other open-minded veg dog moms! :) Thanks!
