I can't believe I have gone a month without updating! It might have to do with the fact that we've been remodeling the upstairs bathroom for the last month, but that is no excuse!
Jenny continues to be a total LOVE and I feel so incredibly thankful to have adopted such an amazing dog!
She continues to get along with Béla, but still no snuggling. Béla is starting to feel more comfortable about laying on the couch while Jenny is on there - I even experienced a few times when Bela and Jenny were both laying on me while I was on the couch. (Usually it's Béla sprawled out on my legs and Jenny curled up near my neck or chest.)
The greatest news of the past month is that the two of them are no longer separated during the day while we are at work! We decided to give it a try and it is working out wonderfully! When I come home now, they BOTH greet me at the door, which is absolutely adorable. I am glad that Béla can have the run of the house again. I think that Jenny just sleeps on top of the couch during the day and Béla sleeps in her bed downstairs or up in her room. I'm pretty sure there's a lot of sleeping that goes on while we are at work so I don't worry one bit!
Speaking of cats and dogs, Béla gets a pill each night at about 7pm. My routine is to shake the pill bottle and Béla comes running from wherever she is in the house, knowing that she will get a treat after her pill. Well, Jenny has decided that this is also going to be her treat time, so she has started to come running over as well. I have been training her to sit and wait while Béla gets her pill. It is so adorable to watch Jenny wait for her sister to take her medicine!
Jenny has been more vocal lately, especially when someone is at the
door, when she hears people or dogs outside, or when she hears a
doorbell on tv! Luckily she quiets down rather quickly, especially with
redirection. I've been working on calling her over when she starts
barking and it helps a lot.

I was so excited one day when browsing my Instagram feed to find this video made by Jenny's rescue group! It brought a tear to my eye knowing how much they still care about and love her. I thank them in my mind every day for rescuing Jenny and bringing her into my life!
PRESS PLAY to catch up with Ready Pet alum, Jenny, who spent way too long in the shelter. Little did she know she was going to be swooped up by the best family in the world for her! Her mama @dmbfiredancer41 is the best mama Jenny could have ever asked for and they all lived happily ever after... #ReadyPetHome

This morning Jenny was fast asleep next to me and then suddenly....her tail started wagging! I realized she was still asleepso I figured she must have been in the middle of a very happy dream!!

Small Dog Meetup at Zoom Room
Jenny went to the small dog meetup again and this time she REALLY started to come out of her shell! She was running around playing with other dogs, chasing, and she even was brave enough to do some of the agility. She tried the A-frame and the hurdle!! I felt like a proud mom!
She found a fast little buddy - a little chihuahua - who she enjoyed chasing and playing with. At times, Jenny would start barking at her. Luckily, the owner of Zoom Room is always monitoring, so I asked her if I should stop her barking. She said, "No way! It's her way of telling the little one that she wants to play more chase games!" That made me feel much better. She was also proud of how much better Jenny did this time.
$10 for an hour and a half - worth every penny!
It always makes me proud when she lets new guys pet her. She used to be SO scared!
She hid behind me most of the time on the last visit. This time she ran around making friends!
Of course the part about not ever licking mom's face again lasted about 5 minutes...
She is lucky she is so cute!
We ended up going down to the Strand in Hermosa after that and walked on the beach a little bit since I had off for Cesar Chavez Day.
Shhhh...dogs are not allowed on the beach. But, if I do get a ticket, it would be worth it!
"This is what I think of no dogs on the beach!"
Happy that it wasn't crowded.
Checking out the seagulls...

Getting braver!
She amazes me every day! She is getting braver and braver with other dogs and people. The other day she let another male neighbor pet her AND she got close to a GREAT DANE! She was excited around her at first, like she wanted to play! It was so cute to see! I just wish I could have gotten a better picture of the 2 of them NEXT to each other standing up -the size difference was so funny!
Her other friend Scout is the black pup on the right
Great Dane playbow!
Finally!
Béla has been SO reluctant to come up on the couch with me while Jenny is there - sometimes she would look up at me from the floor as if to say, "*I* used to be on your lap while you were laying on the couch..I miss that!"
Well, today she finally said "Fuck it" and came on up!
Both of my girls laying on me on the couch...
Hackles Hackle: (n) erectile hairs along the back of a dog or other animal that rise when it is angry or alarmed.
It is hard to see from this picture, but when Jenny is barking at something out the front door (this time it happened to be the gardeners next door,) her hackles come up - all down her neck and her back. It makes her look like she has one long mohawk down the back of her body!
"I will protect and serve!"

Dogs and Cats
There is still progress with the 2 of them hanging out more and more together closeby!
"Why does she chew on these "bone" things?" *eyeroll*
Hanging in the kitchen together :)
"Why Is Béla allowed on the table but I am not?"
Sleeping
She's still been snuggling under the blankets with me at night. When this first started, she would curl up right next to me and pretty much stay there the whole night. Now, she is seriously taking over! There are times when I wake up in the middle of the night to find her sprawled out between me and Craig...or with her head on my pillow and her body under the covers like a human!
I need to take one with her head on pillow...ridiculous! :)
Béla's Room
She still stays out of Béla's room for the most part, although I DID catch her in their yesterday morning...stealing some of her food! I am SHOCKED that The Boss did nothing about it! She sat in the hallway and watched. (Maybe she was in shock that Jenny went in there? hee hee!)
Dog Path
She is showing improvement on the dog path in Hermosa. The last few times she seemed a bit overwhelmed - she didn't want to really walk much, she just pretty much sniffed and watched everything. This time, I took her on the little paths that run parallel to the main path and she did much better with walking :)
